New Child Safe standards

The Victorian government has announced that there will be new child safe standards as of July 1st. There are currently 7 and they are increasing to 11 and the key changes include new requirements:

  • to involve families and communities in organisations’ efforts to keep children and young people safe
  • for a greater focus on safety for Aboriginal children and young people
  • to manage the risk of child abuse in online environments
  • for greater clarity on the governance, systems and processes to keep children and young people safe.

We have been working on the new action plan that covers the standards for the service and it is almost finished. The action plan will be reviewed by the Livingston team and will be available for review by families.

Below is a link to the Commission for young people and children and information about the new standards.

If you have any questions about the process, action plan and the child safe standards, Louise and Rachel are always happy to find time to chat.

Reconciliation Action Plan

We would like to acknowledge the First Nations peoples and pay respect to past, present and future Traditional Custodians of the Kulin Nation, on which Livingston Kindergarten resides.

Livingston Kindergarten is fortunate to be in the process of establishing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The RAP is a formal statement of commitment to reconcile with First Nations Peoples.

Livingston Kindergarten has established a working party, which involves our Director, Teachers, Educators, parents and local community groups. Weekly we incorporate RAP actions, which are commitments that relate to relationships, respect and opportunities which play out at Livingston Kinder.

Through professional learning resources and our RAP, we continue to build staff awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions, so we can all support the implementation of reconciliation initiatives.

These initiatives are embedded into the children’s learning and play daily, whilst having links to the National Quality Standards and Early Years Framework.

This RAP is a live document and continues to evolve throughout 2022.

End of Term 2 = Friday 24th June
