Timing and Trust

BY ADAM MESSENGER (ENRICHMENT COORDINATOR AND TEACHER)

Have you ever been to a circus and seen a flying trapeze act? Not for the faint-hearted! The trapeze artist launches off a platform holding a bar and gains more and more momentum by swinging back and forth. In the moment that we are all waiting for, the acrobat lets go of the bar, somersaults and twists, and then at the last second grabs onto a second acrobat's arms who has swung towards them just at the right time.

The trapeze is all about two things: timing and trust.

The acrobats must "let go and let gravity" - fully trusting that everything will line up in time to grab hold of what is next.

Can you relate to the trapeze artist?

Our lives are rarely stable and static. More often than not, there are twists and turns and we usually don't have the level of control that we would like. There are times when we feel we have let go of one thing - but then don't really know when, where or how we are going to 'land'. It can be scary and unsettling.

But we can trust in a God who's timing is perfect.

There are many times when I have been able to look back and see God's timing was just right. Sometimes it really has been the very last second and then all of a sudden God swings in on His trapeze, reaches out and grabs me by the arms!

God's got you. Trust in Him. Know that in a life full of ups and downs, that He never leaves us.

We can "let go, and let God"!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
