Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
This term is quickly progressing, and the children and staff have been very busy with many interesting and exciting activities.
Over the past three weeks we have held Parent Teacher Discussions, planted lots of plant seedlings on Tree Planting Day, Year 3 have visited CERES, our finalists in the Indonesian Speaking Competition received their awards, Year 5 students travelled to and explored Sovereign Hill, Boyd House won the Year 3 to 6 House Athletics, the Preps have celebrated 100 days at school, and our Science Talent Search participants have had their entries judged.
This week we celebrated Indonesian Day on Tuesday and the children had lots of fun learning more about the culture and traditions of Indonesia.
Next week, we're looking forward to Book Week, and I would like to remind all families that we will have our Book Week Dress Up Day and Parade on Thursday; the parade will be at 10am. This is a great opportunity for children to dress up as their favourite book character. Classes will also be spending extra time talking about and enjoying books.
Angela, Jack & the Commonwealth Games
We were delighted to hear from past student, Angela Yu, who reached out to EHPS to let us know that she had been working hard training and competing, and was proud to be representing Australia in the Badminton team in the Commonwealth Games, held recently in Birmingham in the UK. Angela told us she appreciated the support she'd had when she was in primary school at EHPS.
Angela graduated from EHPS in 2014 and her brother Jack, also on the badminton team, left EHPS in 2015 when he was in Year 5 when the family moved to Queensland.
Well done Angela and Jack, we're very proud of you!
The Today Show coming to Essex Heights!
Channel 9 have confirmed that they will be broadcasting the weather crosses for the Today Show on Wednesday 24 August from EHPS. This exciting news was the result of the initiative of Kiera Mc, one of our amazing School Captains. There will be seven weather crosses beginning at 5.40am. We are hoping that this will be a great community event to showcase different aspects of our school.
Curriculum Day reminder
As advised in the last issue of Contact, NEXT FRIDAY, 26 August, will be a Curriculum Day at EHPS. Students do not attend school on this day.
