On Friday 29 July, Year 4 students learnt about the role of the City of Monash from Kate Fitzgerald, Children & Young People Engagement & Safety Officer, and a colleague from the Waste & Sustainability Department.
On Tuesday 23 August Year 4 students will engage in an online virtual excursion experience from our classrooms. This program, hosted by the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour in Sydney, offers access to Australia's maritime history and gives students the chance to experience the museum direct from our classrooms in this exciting and innovative way. This program is aligned to the History, English and Ethical Capabilities curriculum and is designed to engage students and unlock new knowledge and understanding.

Year 4 students will visit Polly Woodside and Cook's Cottage in Melbourne on Monday 29 August.

In this fast-paced 90-minute incursion on Friday 2 September, students will investigate different forces to learn more about the relationship between force and motion. Students explore the effect of friction, and learn about the forces of attraction and repulsion between magnets. Students are challenged with testing a reaction rocket to investigate air resistance and gravity. The passionate 'Hands on Science' educators carefully guide students through each step, prompting students to predict, observe and reflect on each activity.

Year 4 students will participate in an intensive five day swimming program run by Just Swimming at Aqualink Nunawading from Monday 12 to Friday 16 September. Each lesson runs for 40 minutes. Students will be divided into two groups - Group 1 will be swimming from 8.45am to 10.45am, and Group 2 from 1pm to 3pm.
The swimming program is part of the curriculum and a compulsory event, as directed by the Department of Education, and children are expected to attend.
