Individual achievements

It's been a busy few weeks for Yr 10 student Emilee Davies. Just prior to the holidays, Emilee competed in the Australian Open (Lawn Bowls) in Gold Coast, Qld. Winner her section to finish 3rd in the U18 girls tournament.

When she returned, Emilee represented Bowls Victoria in the U18 Vic v Tas Test Series winning all but one rink over the three days. Below is the State team – Emilee is the tallest.

Training news

A training calendar has been developed for after school training for all teams at various times this year. This enables the seniors to trial and to coach the juniors. It also frees up the Rec at lunchtimes. There is a Compass post sent out every Monday morning notifying students of the training schedule for that week.

Team Sports

Netball

Region Finals

  • Yr 8 Girls  – An outstanding effort by our Yr 8 girls team against the powerhouse netball schools. We defeated Grovedale 19/18, defeated The Grange 26/11, defeated the sports academy school, Maribyrnong, 23/21 to qualify for the final. We came up against Williamstown and played valiantly but could not quite match them losing by 3 goals. Willy have a program where the students pay a fee to have State level coaches train them afterschool, so to get so close was a wonderful effort. Very proud of your effort girls, well done.

Division level

  • Senior girls – The senior girls made the Division final after beating Bacchus Marsh, Sunbury Downs and Kurunjang. Gisborne was victorious in the final. This was an excellent result for this team as 5 of the first choice starting 7 were not available (including our State rep) due to injuries and State rugby representation.
  • Intermediate girls – The inters defeated Kurunjang and Bacchus Marsh to make the Division final, however a very talented Gisborne team was just a little too good winning 24-17.

Victorian Schoolgirls Championships

We have entered Junior and Senior teams in the Vic Schoolgirls – a competition run by Netball Vic for all schools. Historically we have done very well and expect to do so again. The squads are being selected at the moment.

Sport Excursion Reminders

  • We are moving quickly to enable parents to give consent and make an excursion payment, if necessary, online. The excursion details for sport are sent to both the student and the parent emails. Parents can only do the online payment and consent on the parent portal – the student one DOES NOT allow access to do the online approval. Simple instructions are in this link: https://meltonsc-vic.compass.education/Communicate/KnowledgeBase/?article=Events.Events%20in%20App
  • All consent forms must be returned like every other excursion to the front office WITH the payment by the due date on the form.
  • No student will be allowed to bring the consent form on the day and/or bring the money on the day.
  • No CONSENT form - No MONEY –  not returned by DUE date = No GO = get left behind = unhappy team and coach
