Board of Governors Update

We would like to thank both Ann Zubrick and Karen Wilson who have now completed their terms of service to the Board of Governors of the School.

Bruce Henry joins the Board of Governors as the new Presiding Clerk of Australia Yearly Meeting.  Following a career as a maths and science teacher in secondary and tertiary education institutions, Bruce brings to the Board, experience in the education and community sectors, along with the Quaker perspective. Bruce is also member of Victoria Regional Meeting.  His involvement over many years with a diverse range of community programs for Oxfam, Community Aid Abroad and Prahan Mission, embodies the  School’s motto Nemo Sibi Nascitur, or ‘No-one is born for self alone’.

We welcome Jen Newton to the Board of Governors as a Tasmania Regional Meeting Nominee. Jen is a past parent to the School, and is a member of the Tasmania Regional Meeting’s Ministry Committee and will bring a Quaker perspective to the Board. She has very strong connections to the local community and besides her professional experience in nursing, she has a wealth of experience working as a volunteer in the community. In partnership with her husband, Jen also has experience of running a small business.

Limited Access to the Shelia Given Music Centre

Due to building works, there is limited access to the Shelia Given Music Centre. Students and parents should access the Centre from the top basketball courts, for tuition classes and lessons.

Quaker Meetings for Worship

All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.

Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

If you have any enquiries about the Children’s meeting please call Ruth Raward 0431 887 354 or email roo.raward@gmail.com
