Learning and Teaching

Specialist Program Term 3

During Term 3 we are excited to begin preparing for our St Mary’s Production. Students Years 3-6 will participate and prepare for the production, held in Week 10.

To support preparations and alleviate staffing shortages due to COVID 19 and illness, students will participate in a 3 way rotation instead of 4 way rotation during specialists for Term 3. Students will continue to receive Art, STEM, Performing Arts and Social and Emotional Learning on a rotation.

Mathematics

Understanding mathematics means being able to use it in purposeful ways. To learn mathematics, students must be engaged in exploring, conjecturing, discovering and thinking rather than only in rote learning of rules and procedures.

Literacy - what’s trending…..

Reading together

It is important to bring joy to reading. Kids love to laugh and joke, so play into this with a crazy story and silly voices. Get really high-pitched, speed it up like a chipmunk, and then pitch your voice low. Your kids will love seeing these stories come to life with your words, and you’ll all share a good laugh. To get them involved in the fun, ask them to do their own silly voice!

Vision & Graduate Outcomes

Students who graduate from St Mary’s aim to demonstrate these qualities in all that they do. We regularly discuss these words as part of our positive behaviour focus.
