Whole school Mass - Feast of the Assumption of Mary

On Monday, August 15th, we will gather as a whole school community to celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Mary, mother of God. We will celebrate Mary’s passing from this world, into the glory of God. We are called to remember her deep faith, hope and her constant trust in God. We are inspired by Mary’s life and see her as a model of faith, trust and love in God.

Families are warmly welcomed to join us in celebrating this mass on Monday, 15th August at 12.30pm in the Brigidine Centre.

Mary of the Cross Liturgy

St Mary MacKillop was the first patron saint in Australia. Mary became a saint on the 17th October, 2010. She was given the title ‘Mary of the Cross’ by Pope Francis. Mary was a person of great faith and hope. Mary is an inspiration to all people because of the faith, trust and love she placed in God. She once said ‘‘God’s presence seems to follow me everywhere and makes everything I do or wish to do a prayer.’ She believed that God would look after her and provide her with the things she needed to help others. Mary didn’t worry because she was a person of hope and courage. Mary shows us how to be trusting and patient and know that God loves us and will look after us.  She is a model of service and inclusion for all and helps us to live a life like Jesus.

Classes will celebrate a Mary MacKillop liturgy on Tuesday 9th August in the learning communities.

If your child would like to learn how to altar serve in our school and/or parish, please email Mrs Gould to express an interest. We will be running a training session at school this term and would love more children to join us.

St Mary’s Parish Stewardship Program

Help us reinvigorate our Parish!

Last weekend at mass, we officially launched our Stewardship Program.

But what is stewardship we hear you ask?

Stewardship involves embracing a common vision and putting together a plan for how we can work together to take ‘care’ of our church for the future, resulting in a spiritually vibrant, highly engaged and financially secure parish.

As we begin to recover from COVID, we are presented with an opportunity to create a fresh start.

An opportunity to: find new ways to reconnect with our community; welcome new members; increase social activities; identify skills and talents; and secure our resources for the future including people’s time, our ministry services and our parish finances.

But we need your help to do it!

As part of this process, we are calling on all our new, old and existing members to complete our Parish Census. Families at St Mary’s and St Joeseph’s are especially invited to complete the census.

The Census aims to gather information about who is currently involved in the parish community, who would like to be involved, what gifts and talents you have to contribute, what events, activities and services you would like to see in the future and how we could better support you as a member of our Catholic Parish.

Let’s work together to help our Parish flourish now and in the future!
