Message from the Principal

St Anthony’s Parish and St Anthony’s School hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as central and fundamental responsibilities of the Church.

St Anthony’s is fully compliant with all policies in relation to Child Safety. These documents ensure compliance with the Victorian Government Child Safety Standards which took effect on 1 January 2017 and reflect our Parish's ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children are safe, happy and empowered.

Hello Families and Friends of St Anthony's,

Athletics Day

Last Thursday was the St Anthony's Athletics Carnival. It was such a fantastic day for all students, parents and staff. It was so wonderful to see everyone participating and having a go at all the events. I would like to thank Mr Harisiou and Josh Fisher for all their work in preparing the day for our students. Without dedicated teachers days such as the athletics carnival simply would not go ahead.

Congratulations to all students and a special mention to St Nicholas house on winning the overall carnival.

Thank you to all parents, carers and grandparents that came along to cheer us on. We were so grateful that you could attend and that some of you carried the St Anthony's Athletic Carnival Torch.

Administration Building Update

On Wednesday, James and I attended the fortnightly site meeting for the administration building. Things have moving along very quickly and all the internal demolition has been completed. Bricks from the external walls are being removed to allow for large windows to let in the natural light and the frames for the internal walls are being installed.

This week we have also seen the early stages of the installation of our new sun shades behind the Year 3/4 classrooms. The poles have been put into place and the shades will arrive sometime over the next two weeks. It is so exciting seeing so much progress happening at St Anthony's.

Confirmation

Next Thursday students from St Anthony's will be celebrating Confirmation. This week Bishop Tony Ireland came to visit the candidates as part of their preparation for such an important sacrament. I wish them all good luck and pray that they feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Special Invitation

I invite all parents and caregivers to attend a breakfast with the School Advisory Council next Wednesday morning. We will be sharing a cup of tea or coffee, a croissant and looking at Child Safety.

School Closure

A reminder that next Friday is a our MACS nominated school closure day. Staff will be working on Mathematics and collaborative curriculum planning.

From Friday 12th August, I will be on leave for two weeks for medical reasons. James Gow will be acting Principal and Glennis Kerr will be acting Deputy Principal. I know that I leave the school in very capable hands and look forward to returning in Week 8.
