Tired? Stressed?

One of my favourite things to do when people share that they are tired or stressed is to relay the old Swisse multivitamin add to them. ‘Tired? Stressed? You’ll feel better on Swisse!’. Not super helpful but funny (I think)!
Unfortunately, at the moment it seems as though the tired and stressed is in all facets of our lives. The return to a world of ‘normal’ and routine has seen fatigue and anxiety become a large part of lots of people’s lives.
The World Health Organisation recently released some research, stating that there has been a ‘25% increase in prevalence on anxiety and depression worldwide’ over the last couple of years. As someone who has dealt with the added stresses of normality again, I have often looked to a number of things to help. Talking with friends and family, getting involved in my team sport, reading and trying to have down time. All this, although slightly helpful, did not help put my mind at ease. Thankfully, we have the Bible. In Matthew 6:34 we can read
“Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”
It is a very helpful reminder that although things can be difficult, we have a God that cares.
God wants to take our stress and anxiety away from us. By leaning into Him, we don’t necessarily stop caring about the situations in our life causing us to feel this way, but we have an assurance that God is on our side and wanting to help guide us through the turbulent times.
