Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello RHPS Artists,

Wow! What a week of art. The junior school are full steam ahead with making and creating an array of beautiful artwork.

You may of met a bot that your child drew last week. These bots turned out amazing and were already spreading joy by giving us kind compliments. We had hero bot, rainbow bot, sunshine bot, silly bot, school bot...every bot you could imagine.

Our prep artists were very busy this week with an art literacy link. After reading, Your birthday was the best by Maggie Hutchings, we began constructing our cupcakes. Newspaper, sticky tape, scrunching, cutting and sticking. Our fine motor skills were working overtime. Next week we will bring out the magiclay and roll, squish and stretch it to add icing to our cupcakes.

The Grade 1/2 artists have outdone themselves this week by making their very first armature (art skeleton) to begin making either a Peter Rabbit inspired by Beatrix Potter or a Harry Maclary character inspired by Lynley Dodd. We will be learning about these wonderful artists and writers as we make our papier-mâché creations.

Just a friendly reminder that art smocks will be needed, so if you haven’t done so, please send along a named shirt or smock for us to get messy. (I have many spare to hand out, so please send a message and I can pass one onto your artist)

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Keep Creating,

Mrs. Granger
