HCC News and Announcements

Parent Information Night

This year instead of holding a Parent Information Night onsite, our teachers and marketing team have put together a series of videos designed to give you an introduction to the staff and some helpful information about the year ahead. Each of the Primary classroom teachers have produced a video and key staff and leaders from the Secondary school have provided information about Year 7, Year 9 and VCE.

We hope you find these videos helpful. You are most welcome to contact any of our teachers if you have any questions. The videos can be accessed via our website under the community tab or via this link:

https://www.hcc.vic.edu.au/parent-resources/parent-information-evening/.

Although it’s disappointing it can’t be in person, we feel blessed to be able to show you around our classrooms, even if it’s through video.

These videos are ‘unlisted’ which means the general public cannot access the links, we ask to please not share the links with anyone outside of our College Community. Thank you.

Student Absences & Late Arrival Automatic SMS

The College uses Compass for student management including marking the roll. New for HCC this year is the automatic SMS for late arrivals to Homeroom or absent to Homeroom.

An SMS is automatically sent to the first listed parent at 8:59am. This system is for child safety reasons.

If you know that your child is going to be late or absent, please either enter an attendance note into Compass as a parent via the app or ring the College office on 8551 6650 prior to 8:45am to report the absence.

Schoolpix School Photo: Thursday 17 February

The school photograph day is on Thursday 17 February. Please be reminded that on photograph day, students will need to wear their summer uniform, blazers for Secondary students and no jumpers or sports uniform, even if they usually have sport on that day.

Auditions for Primary Chapel Band

I am looking for some dedicated and passionate musicians to accompany our chapel choir.

Auditions are open to all primary students from Grades 4-6 and they will be held on Friday 18 February (Week 3) in the auditorium at lunchtime.

I am mainly looking for pianists, guitarists and drummers, but welcome all other instruments too. Students will need to be able to read chords and sheet music independently and be available for choir practice on Monday at lunchtime before their rostered chapel date.

Please note that students who were involved in the Primary Chapel Band last year will not need to audition again, they only need to let me know if they wish to be involved in Chapel Band this year. I will visit the Grades 4-6 classrooms this week to hand out sheet music for the audition to all interested students.

I look forward to hearing from many talented musicians!
