Dear Parents and Carers,
We welcome back all our students, parents and staff. Students have settled well into the new school year and I have been pleased to see so many happy faces during recess and lunch. During the first two weeks of school, students have been establishing their classroom culture inline with the 7 habits. Along with being introduced/reintroduced to the habits, classes have also established:
A morning routine
How we greet each other
How we answer questions and respond to each other
Our classroom expectations
A class mission statement
A personal mission statement
How we demonstrate respect for one another
What active listening looks like
A class WIG (wildly important goal)
A personal WIG (wildly important goal)
Doing all of this sets up each class for success for the year along with developing consistency across our growing school.
A big welcome to our new staff! We have eight new staff members this year.
Nick Duckett is the Year 5-6 teacher
Candice Nassim is in Year 3-4

Shellie Ryan is ES in 1-2A
Anna Verrios is in Year 1-2

Olivia Pinzone is in Foundation

Mr Danson is still recovering from pneumonia. He is planning to return to school soon when he is fit and healthy. I have been passing on the community well wishes received, for which he is truly grateful.
On Monday 7th February, Nick Staikos MP visited Le Page. It was exciting to have him visit to discuss the school's needs to continue to be a great school. Nick wanted to see where our new inclusive playground would be situated, which we received a $200,000 grant for late last year. We are also hoping that Mr. Staikos can come back to give out our leadership badges at a whole school assembly in March.
Parent, teacher meetings will be held on Monday 21st February between 3:40 and 7:00. Meetings will be online via a Zoom link. This meeting gives a chance for parents and teachers to connect and for parents to inform the class teacher of anything they need to know to best support your child. Bookings can be made via Compass before Friday 18th February.
Our wonderful Parents and Friends group had planned to host two community events for the beginning of the year. Unfortunately both have been postponed to a later date. We are still planning to have our spectacular Easter Market, which was a huge success last year. Any new parent or carers who would like to join this amazing group is welcome to contact Monique Graham at lepagesocialandfundraising@gmail.com
A second pack of rapid antigen tests were sent home with the students this week. If your child was absent and did not receive their second pack, you can contact the school to have it sent home. It is recommended that students test before coming to school each Monday and one other time during the school week. We thank you for your commitment with this and understand that it presents challenges at home. The department of education will release updated guidelines for schools towards the end of February and we will pass on any necessary information as soon as possible. As mentioned in previous communication, if your child returns a positive test result or has to isolate, please contact the school at le.page.ps@education.vic.gov.au
This year we would like to introduce a parent representative for each class. This role (which could be shared) involves sharing useful information between and within the classes and community. The parent reps are encouraged to attend social and fundraising committee meetings whenever possible, collect and disseminate details of families so parents can organise playdates and parties, and finally organise catch ups throughout the year. This is a great way to meet families of the friends your child is learning and playing with at school. Classroom teachers will send a Compass email to parents regarding this and any interested people can respond.
I wish everyone a relaxing weekend. We are looking forward to another exciting week ahead.
