Performing Arts

We have begun this term with a bang in Performing Arts!

Classes are being conducted outdoors and the students are loving showing the passing staff and students from Star of the Sea their dance moves and performances.

In the first session, the junior year levels focused on rhythms, beats and percussion instruments. The year 1 students created original songs using body percussion and performed the songs in front of their classmates. The year 2 students created songs using items found in the Tilly Garden. They experimented with watering cans, rocks, sticks etc. to make music and then performed the songs to their peers.

Students in year 3, 4, 5 and 6 are learning how to develop characters and transform themselves into something else. We had fun recreating scenes from various movies and TV shows. The interpretation and commitment to the various characters was incredible from the students.

Performing Arts gives students the opportunity to express themselves creatively through singing, dancing and acting. Here at St James we continue to provide an outlet for students to explore this in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Warm regards,
