HSC Results

Congratulations to our Year 12 students on their outstanding results in the Higher School Certificate examinations. While the snapshot shared in this newsletter reflects the most outstanding overall results, it is important to also acknowledge all students who worked consistently to achieve results that are personally excellent. We also thank and congratulate the staff whose dedication and expertise has ably supported our students through their secondary education and the Higher School Certificate Course. Finally, we acknowledge and congratulate parents/carers who have walked the journey through the HSC Course and thank them for their partnership in the education of the children.
The following students have achieved Band 6 or equivalent results:
The overall results have been very strong with 21 of the 30 courses, or 70% of courses on offer, achieving higher than the State average. With 33 students achieving 50 Band 6 or its equivalent, there is much to celebrate. As the results were only released this morning, we have not had the opportunity yet to conduct a full analysis but I would like to acknowledge the following notable achievements:
- Congratulations to Lana Duffy who achieved a mark of 98/100 in Advanced English.
- Congratulations to Daniel O’Reilly who achieved a mark of 99/100 Mathematics Extension 1.
The following Course results are particularly outstanding:
- Agriculture – 14% of students received Band 6 as compared to 5% in the State.
- Community and Family Studies – 11% of students received Band 6 as compared to 4% of the state.
- Standard English - 3% of students received Band 6 as compared to 1% of the state.
- Extension 2 English - 100% of students received Band E3 as compared to 56% of the state.
- Legal Studies - 29% of students received Band 6 as compared to 12% of the state.
- Mathematics General 2 - 8% of students received Band 6 as compared to 6% of the state.
- Mathematics Extension 2 - 66% of students received Band E3 as compared to 50% of the state.
- Music 1 - 36% of students received Band 6 as compared to 20% of the state.
- Senior Science - 7% of students received Band 6 compared to 6% of the state.
- Studies of Religion 1 - 8 of the 92 Year 11 SOR 1 students received a Band 6.
In addition to students who achieved a Band 6 in one or more HSC Courses, many students were awarded a Band 5 across a range of rigorous courses, which is also a very significant achievement.
Congratulations to all our HSC candidates at Mater Dei this year on your great achievements. We are very proud of you all!
We look forward to our students sharing their ATAR’s with us when they are received on Friday morning.
Best Wishes,
