Chaplain's Corner

Hi Everyone,

Great to see many smiling faces this week!

Each year gives us the opportunity for NEW BEGINNINGS!  HOPE, LOOKING FORWARD, CHANGE, PERSONAL GROWTH, ETC….

Sometimes it may mean letting go of the past, or building upon the positive things in our lives and continue to ‘grow’.

I know that this may all be easier said than done, but we have choice in many little ways which can make a difference as we move forward.  Sometimes it will be hard, other times we may surprise ourselves.

We saw some amazing tennis over the Australian Open – witnessing players striving to be their best, choosing not to give up – Rafael Nadal (I actually went to bed thinking ‘he is going to lose’ – shame on me for doubting!); choosing to be humble in triumph and defeat (yes, some are still learning); looking for new beginnings as they came back from physical challenges.  I found this quote from Dylan Alcott, Australian champion wheelchair tennis player and 2022 AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR - Alcott's advice to young people with a disability is: "The biggest thing is that for every one thing you can’t do, there are 10,000 others (things) you can”.  This applies to ALL of us.

SO… let’s encourage our children to be positive as they begin a new school year. Encourage them to embrace change with courage and an open mind – new teacher, new class, new friends, new things to learn, new opportunities to be part of!

I look forward to another year as part of the team at Anderson’s Creek PS.

Take care & stay well!
