Year 10 Work Experience

20 - 24 June 2022

Work experience is the short-term placement of Year 10 secondary school students with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Work experience provides students with the valuable opportunity to:

  • develop employability skills
  • explore possible career options
  • understand employer expectations
  • increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence

All Year 10 students were introduced to the Work Experience Program in Beyond on Wednesday 9 February. This week, students will have the opportunity to explore work experience options with their GOAL mentors if they have not yet started investigating work placements. Students are now able to enquire about work experience placements within the Health industry as long as vaccination mandates are met.

Please take note of the following important dates of when placements need to be finalised and forms returned to Beaumaris Secondary College.

  • Year 10 students will participate in work experience from Monday June 20 to Friday June 24 2022. If students are attending the Reef & Rainforest camp, they will not participate in work experience on these dates. Students can speak to Ms Martin about organising an optional placement for an alternative date.
  • Work experience placements need to be secured by the end of the second week in Term 2 - 6 May 2022
  •  Students must return the following forms by 13 May 2022:
    • Work Experience Arrangement Form
    • Additional Covid-19 Work Experience Form
    • Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form (this form is only required to be completed if students are traveling with the employer during their placement or if accommodation is required for the placement)
    • Additional forms are required if students are working with animals during their placement. Students need to see Miss Martin for support in this situation.
Students can access these forms in their Beyond Notebooks or Teams files. The forms can also be downloaded from the Beaumaris Secondary Careers Website https://www.beaumarissccareers.com/required-documents
