What’s happening in the ‘Patch’?

Currently in the patch we have cleared beds ready to plant out our seedlings of corn and both cherry and large tomatoes. The children planted the seeds last term and have been looking after them in the greenhouse. The broad beans are being harvested and used in the kitchen with the last of the lettuce for the final menu of the year.

It’s exciting this term as year 2 will get to use what they are planting this term in kitchen classes next year.

We have been fortunate to have a dad at the school, Dave Johnston, build us an amazing entrance to the patch. We have been trying to bring a visual connection between the garden and kitchen because they are physically removed from each other. First with the edible flower baskets, vertical herb wall and now our amazing entrance which can be seen from the kitchen, we are seeing the connection coming together. We will be painting it over the holiday break and will eventually be named SAKG- THE PATCH. A huge thank you to Dave it turned out even more extravagant than imagined.

Healthy Habit Tip
