Schools Tree Day
On Friday the 28th of July, schools around the country celebrated National Tree Day. The Kingswood Green Team worked together to plant up to 50 trees around the school yard. These were kindly donated by the Kingston Council. All the students who attended were highly enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the planting process.
All the planted trees are Australian natives and we are hopeful they will encourage native wildlife to our school grounds. If you are interested in joining the Green Team or just coming along to check it out, everyone is welcome!
We run every Friday lunchtime and begin in Miss Hawkins' classroom. We can't wait to see you there!
Nude Food Tuesdays
Just a reminder that every Tuesday is Nude Food Day. Keep an eye out as we will be announcing a Nude Food competition very soon! We have been impressed by the number of students who have remembered to pack rubbish-free lunch boxes on Tuesdays if not everyday! If you're unsure of what Nude Food Day entails, essentially, students are encouraged to bring their food – NUDE (without wrappers). This reduces the amount of rubbish that goes into our bins, that goes into the ground, that pollutes our planet. This is an amazingly simple concept that really empowers the children to create change! Our ultimate goal is to have zero waste from students' lunches.
Handy tip from the Green Team: Instead of buying multiple, seperate packets of chips, buy one large bag and empty into reusable containers each day.
