Book Parade 2019

Thanks to all of our students and teachers who dressed up for our annual Book Week parade this morning. There were some great outfits and costumes as you can see in the photo galleries below. The Book Week Parade is a fun experience but also demonstrates a love of literature and books that we encourage in our students here at WHPS. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along the watch as well.

Child Safety Standards Reminder

Wheelers Hill Primary School's Child Safety Policy sets out the school’s approach to creating a child safe organisation where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and provides the policy framework for the school’s approach to the Child Safe Standards. A reminder that all Child Safety information is on the school website and associated policies can be found on Compass under the School Resources and Policies tabs.

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you to all the parents that completed the Parent Opinion Survey over the last few weeks. In total there were well over 100 surveys completed. The results of the parent opinion survey will be used to inform the school about teaching and learning programs and decision making about the school into the future.

After Hours Access at School

Please note we strongly discourage parents  and grandparents to access the classrooms and corridors after 4:30pm when after school clubs finish. If you think your child may have left behind a lunch box or a jumper please chat with the class teacher in the morning just before school starts.

New Crossing Supervisor

Monash Council has recently confirmed there will be crossing supervisor before and after school at the Ferntree Gully Road / Lum Road Intersection in the near future. This is great news and will improve the safety for students walking across this busy intersection. A big thank you to parent Karen Shamgar who initially contacted council about this issue, wrote letters and encouraged the council to act.

WESA Athletics Sports

Congratulations to all our amazing students who represented WHPS so well at the annual WESA Athletic Sports the other week. We are very proud of you. A big thank you as well to Ms Purcell for all her hard work and organisation before the event and to the teachers that helped Ms Purcell on the day.

Exiting Students

With the exception of Year 6 students, please contact our school office if you are leaving our school for any reason at or prior to the end of Term 4. We are working out classes for 2020 and need to know our student numbers for next year.

Parking Regulations and Restrictions

Please take note of these parking restrictions and regulations from Monash Council by clicking on the photo below.  They are enforced around our school with regular patrols by parking and traffic officers.

Monash Council is often contacted by local residents who are concerned about the parking practices of parents drop-ping off or picking up children from around our school. When people double park or park too close to school crossings, it can make the situation unsafe for children and other people in the area. We also hear regularly from residents who have been inconvenienced by people parking across their driveways. Monash Council parking officers regularly patrol the areas around schools (and other local streets) so please make sure you obey the road rules at all times or you risk being fined.
