PROGRAM NEWS

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE

The older children have been collaborating on a large Lego city with many building and structures being added each week

The children enjoyed a relaxation session of breathing and mindful meditation before school for National Relaxation Day on 15th August

The focus for the next few weeks is to practice sketching using wooden human models and learning new card games like spoons and cheat. Card games are a great way to extend children’s planning and problem solving skills and to engage with other children

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

 Junior Program

Over the last two weeks, the children have been involved in making a gift to significant person in their lives. Additionally the children have been enjoying the wild animals, which have been added to our Steiner area. This has been an extension of the lion king Ooshies that the children love.

In the next few weeks, we will be getting in to some mindfulness activities such as meditation and yoga to build children’s resilience skills and calmness

As the prep children are wanting to become more involved in group games we have some larger group games planned for the children to learn.

Middle Program

The children have been working on craft for father’s day/significant person in your life. The children have enjoyed learning the old craft of macramé. We have also been learning some resilience games in large groups

The focus for the next few weeks is to design a reconciliation poster based on the acknowledge to country that encourages the children to understand the meaning of this statement and how important country is to all of us

Senior Program

Children have been enjoying creating a special gift for someone close to them and putting meaningful thought into this. Other creative activities being completed are Hama bead pictures and Cardboard Book Boxes decorated inside and out

The children will be trying out making stress balls with a number of different materials that will give different textures and pressures.

We are also keeping Lego out as the children have shown off their building skills and enjoying cReating whole temples and helicopters
