Japan Trip 2018

Over the holidays a group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students went on an adventure to Japan. We departed on the 29th September and arrived back home on the 6th October. The flight was long and tiring.

However, as soon as we landed we were all filled with excitement and eagerness. The first 2 days we were in Tokyo and we explored science museums, amazing temples and the bright lights of the big city. The next 2 days we took the bullet train to Kyoto where we travelled to markets and went to the incredible bamboo forest. For the last 2 days we ventured out towards Hiroshima  where we learnt all about the Hiroshima bombing and to Osaka where we had a guided tour of the Osaka Castle and Glico in the Dotonbori area. Overall, we had an incredible adventure in an amazing country.

The first GEC Japan Trip has been a huge success. From our departure on 29th September to our return on 6th October, a real energy was felt by the 17 students and 2 teachers.

Tokyo – Kyoto – Hiroshima – Osaka in just 6 days. From hotels to Rhyokans to train stations to markets to temples to shopping complexes,to bamboo forests to traditional theatre - so many unforgettable experiences. Words simply cannot do justice to what we saw and how we felt.

A very big thank you to the families who supported this trip and entrusted the care of their children to us. Thank you to Ms Muramatsu for getting this inaugural trip off the ground, the office staff for all their hard work and to all the students who attended – a truly wonderful trip.

Finally, the biggest thank you from myself, the parents and the students goes to Ms Maniatis for her impeccable planning and organisation in ensuring that this trip ran smoothly, efficiently and drama free.
