Faith and Wellbeing Assistant Principal's Report

Nazareth Day Mass
On 12 September 2017 at 12.10pm we will gather as a Community to celebrate all we have been blessed with and to ask God’s continued blessing on our Nazareth Community as we celebrate our annual Nazareth Mass. We have such a beautiful community and so much to be grateful for and offer to our God. As with all Christians, we also need to take into account his call to pray constantly and to be asking God to watch over, guide and protect us. This Mass is a great opportunity to do this and we warmly invite any parents or family members to attend.
2018 Year 12 Leaders
On Tuesday 12 September 2017 the candidates for the 2018 House Leadership roles will present to their House and the candidates for the College Captain and Vice-Captain positions will present to all of their Year 11 classmates and both groups will vote for the 2018 Leaders. The student vote, along with staff votes, student interviews, written application and performance over the years at the College will all be factors that contribute towards the selection of the Leaders for 2018. We encourage all parents of Year 11 students to be discussing leadership with their child and encouraging them to consider applying for one of these positions.
Uniform
Following on from the last Newsletter Buxwear now have girls' pants available for girls who would like to wear pants.
We are also looking into introducing a Rugby Top as a part of the P.E. Uniform. Students have been invited to propose something for the design of the Rugby Top. If students are interested in this, please contact Mr Duckett.
A reminder that as per the Student Organiser our boys are to be clean shaven. There are a number of students we are regularly having conversations with about their need to shave and some of these students are being taken to the Health Centre to shave at school. Please support us and encourage your child to shave at home during the week.
Sleep
For optimal learning and performance at school it is imperative our students have had a good night’s sleep. Upon talking to students it seems there are a number of students who are staying up until the early hours of the morning, often on digital devices. The College strongly recommends students have a solid sleep each night and that phones are kept out of bedrooms at night as they can have a negative impact on sleep.
End of Term 3
The end of Term is rapidly approaching and it seems some of our students are getting a little tired. One of the virtues we looked at earlier in the year was that of perseverance. At this stage of the year we need to remind ourselves of the need to keep working solidly until the finish. We need to persevere until the end of the Term. It can be challenging, but we need to support each other to keep working until the end.
