From the Chaplain

Rev. Dr Rosalie Clarke

Greetings to all

On Wednesday we celebrate Ash Wednesday in the church calendar. This is the start of Lent – at the end of which are our most special Christian celebrations of Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Ash Wednesday is the most holy of days as we remember the miracle of our creation as well as the vulnerability of our lives. We remember that God breathed life into the dust to form humans, and we remember that to dust we shall all return. The time in between - in all its fragility, pain, joy and beauty - is ours to live and to relish; it is ours to question and to search; it is ours to give and to receive.

What is important to also remember is that we are not alone during this time. Our creator, redeemer and empowerer – God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit – provides all we need to walk every day of our lives here on this earth.

May you and yours know God’s presence during this time of Lent.

God bless,

Rev Dr Clarke
