Co-curricular - Junior Sport

With the Term 1 summer season in full swing, there have been many pleasing results across the codes. What has been noticeable throughout the games is the sportsmanship the St Patrick’s boys have shown on the court. While the boys have been playing hard, they have also been playing fair. Their pride in the Blue, Black and Gold is evident, and they are working hard to keep the high standards associated with St Patrick’s.

The swimming season, short as it is, got underway on Friday with the Junior School Swimming Squad journeying out to Riverview for the annual BPSSA Swimming Carnival. The boys were very excited to be representing the College and the trip out to St Ignatius was full of nervous tension.

Once in the pool, the boys quickly found their feet and took to the water. The pool frothed and bubbled as the boys powered down the pool. There were many pleasing results throughout the day and some competitive times posted. It was noted by many of the staff from other competing schools how polite and well-mannered our boys were. A big feather in your cap boys!

Tuesday saw a smaller cohort of boys head out to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre for the IPSHA Swimming and Diving Carnival. This carnival requires boys to achieve qualifying times to enter, so the heats are hotly contested. The boys did very well in their heats. Many of the boys came away with ribbons for their efforts and there were some very pleasing times with all boys pushing close to their best times.

Congratulations to Vincent Pappalardo of 6 Green. He will continue to the NSWCIS Diving Competition to be held later this month.

It has been great to see all the boys in the Junior School creating their profiles for our Lenten Fundraising. Keep working hard at raising money for our Lenten partners. The Junior School has a proud tradition in fundraising and we look forward to seeing what our boys can achieve.

Training for Cross Country will commence Thursday 4 March at 7.45am. Boys can come to school in running attire but must be changed into their College uniform by the beginning of the school day. Training will be every Tuesday and Thursday morning from tomorrow onwards. This is open to all boys in the Junior School who would like to train for our Cross Country Carnival or to get fit for the winter season approaching.
