Careers

Dear Year 10 Students, Parents and/or Guardians,

The Year 10 Work Experience Program will begin on Monday the 21st – Friday 25th June 2021. As we come towards the end of Term 1, I wanted to take the opportunity to remind you of some important key dates for work experience.

  • Currently, all Year 10 students should be close to finalising their work experience arrangements with an employer. These need to be secured before the end of Term 1, 1st April 2021.
  • The Work Experience Arrangement Form needs to be signed by the employer, student, and parent and/or guardian once the placement has been organised. Students should then hand in the 'Work Experience Arrangement Form' and the 'Additional Covid-19 Work Experience Form' to the front office.
  • If a student needs to undertake vehicle travel with their employer and/or supervisor during the arrangement (including transporting the student to and/or from the workplace), the parent/guardian and employer must complete the 'Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form'.
  • If a student is required to stay at accommodation other than his or her normal place of residence while undertaking work experience, the parent/guardian is responsible for making suitable arrangements and must also complete the 'Work Experience Travel and Accommodation Form'.
  • The final date that students can submit the 'Work Experience Arrangement Form' and 'Additional Covid-19 Work Experience Form' is Friday 14th May 2021. Please note, students should not be waiting until this date to finalise their work experience placement.
  • All forms can be accessed from our Careers Website https://www.beaumarissccareers.com/required-documents

Over the course of the term, students have had the opportunity to investigate and explore work experience options during ‘Innovate’ and contact employers. They have also been made aware and reminded of the work experience timeline of important dates, as indicated above.

Students are encouraged to attend ‘Work Experience Support’ or arrange a time to meet with Miss. Martin if they would like assistance organising their work experience placement. Work Experience Support runs every Wednesday at 1:30 pm on Southern Level in the careers space.

The Information Presentation on Year 10 Work Experience is available for parents to access on the compass newsfeed. Students can also access this presentation in their ‘Innovate’ notebook and via the compass newsfeed.

Year 10 students who are attending the Reef to Rainforest Camp are not required to organise a work experience placement for 21st – 25th June. If students are interested in completing a work experience placement at an alternative time, they are encouraged to speak to Miss Martin. Please do not hesitate to contact me on Stephanie.Martin@education.vic.gov.au, or via your child’s Goal Mentor should you have any questions about work experience.
