BE MORE

As we journey through the season of Lent we explore the idea presented by Caritas’ Project Compassion drive this year, Be More. It’s a simple idea, two words, six letters and yet it means the world. If someone asked you how you could Be More in this world I wonder how you would respond. Maybe you would say, I would spend more time with loved ones or maybe you would  take more time to learn something new. Maybe you would help someone in need or share your talents for something good.

I wonder what would happen if God asked you to be more? I wonder if your initial response would be the same or different? Over the next few weeks, God gifts us with the season of Lent as an opportunity to grow deeper into our faith and relationship with Him. Take some time to pray and ask how He wants you to change and create a new heart before Easter.

As a family, I invite you to have a discussion at the dinner table about what the words ‘be more’ mean to your family and how you can contribute to our project compassion fund at school. What are some ways you can do more around the house, earn pocket money and donate to the project compassion box in the classroom. We are looking to help all students realise that God calls them to ‘be more’ every day in all that they do. Let’s all show how to be the light of Christ in the world around us by showing up and being more everyday.

Have a blessed week,

Confirmations Complete!

Last Thursday our year 7s completed their long awaited journey to being Confirmed. There were 46 students who came together over two services and received the sacrament of confirmation. The Candidates were taught all about the sacrament offering them the opportunity to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to help others. The Gifts were spoken about in the metaphor as the traffic lights for life. The red light was the gifts where we need to stop and think about how we can be people of God. The amber light was the gifts where we proceed slowly and with consideration of what God’s asking of us. The Green light were the gifts that we use everyday to make the world a better place.
