Dear Families,

  • Catholic Education Week (Sunday 14th March)
  • Open Day (Thursday 18th March) 9.15-11am
  • School Community Colour Run (Friday 12th March) 5-8pm

Lent

Our school community focus as we journey through Lent is ‘be more’. We are encouraging each other to ‘be more’ to those around them.

“Aspire not to have more,

but to be more”

(Saint Oscar Romero)

I have attached a prayer which you may want to share as a family during this lenten season.

ECSI Survey

I would like to invite each of you to complete the 'Enhancing Catholic School Identity' survey which forms part of our 4 year Review.

Please refer to the attached document for an explanation and instructions on how to complete the survey. The survey closes on Friday 12th March 2021.

Survey access: www.ecsi.site/au/user

Holy Family's Access Code: fuD5H7

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.

Kiss and Drop

I would like to remind families that ‘Kiss and Drop’ before and after school is supervised by school staff in our carpark. Families are not supposed to be using the area outside the church for drop off or pick up as this is unsupervised. The safety of your children is my top priority and you are putting your children at risk by not using the service available to you.

Colour Run

I encourage each of our students to continue collecting donations for our Holy Family Colour Run next Friday 12th March (5-8pm). This event not only provides the opportunity for our school community to gather but to also raise funds to go towards a new adventure playground for our students.

Families are invited to wear an old light coloured t-shirt and bring along a picnic rug and hamper to sit in the quadrangle and share dinner as a family at the end of the Colour Run.

I look forward to seeing everyone next Friday either walking or running laps in our school grounds.

School Sports

We have rescheduled our Annual School Sports. The sports will be held on Friday 26th March at Holy Family.

Events for the day will be -

  • Prep-2 (Ball Sports and Shuttle Run) 12.10-12.50pm
  • Years 3-6 (Ball Sports and Shuttle Run) 12.50-1.45pm
  • Prep-Year 6 (Sprints, Circular Relays and Year 6 Gift) 3-5pm

All parents are welcome to attend.

Parents and Friends Welcome Drinks

Our ‘Welcome Drinks’ have been rescheduled and will now be held on Friday 26th March at the Mount Waverley Cricket Club from 7-10pm. Please refer to the attached invitation for further information.

Resilience Project

Each of our classes have started their Resilience project sessions. These sessions are held each Monday after lunch with the focus on developing gratitude, empathy and mindfulness in each of our students.

SRC

Our Year 6 students are supporting all of our classes and gathering feedback from our students in relation to different topics.

The focus for this term is on supporting students in all classes to understand our Holy Family Behaviour Expectations. The SRC students visit the classrooms each Monday to provide our focus for the coming week-

The expectations for next week are -

  • Be Respectful - I share play spaces and include others
  • Be Responsible and Safe - I wear the correct uniform with pride
  • Be Ready to Learn - I stay on task

Clubs

Our SRC have also been talking with classes to find out which ‘clubs’ the students would like at playtimes.

Recent student feedback has been to include a ‘Lego’ and ‘Drawing’ Club. These clubs will begin in the next week.

Thank you to Miss King for raising the profile of student voice in our school.

Clean Up Australia Day

This Friday our students in Years 1-4 will take part in ‘Clean Up Holy Family’ afternoon. I look forward to getting out with these students to either collect rubbish or weed our garden beds.  If possible, we ask children to bring a pair of gloves to use or an old pair of tongs to use whilst collecting rubbish.

National Day of Action Against Bullying/Harmony Day

On Friday 19th March our students will acknowledge the following days -

  • National Day of Action Against Bullying
  • Harmony Day (Everyone Belongs)

The focus on this day we also be linked to our Lenten focus ‘be more’. We will encourage our students to stand up for their friends and display inclusiveness in the classroom and out on the

school yard.  To signify the focus of this day, we ask students to wear a ‘touch of orange’ (ribbon in hair, t-shirt or be as creative as you can).

Holy Family Enrolments for Prep 2022

 School Open Day

Let your neighbours, friends and relatives know that 2022 enrolments are OPEN.

Early enrolment assists us greatly with 2022 planning.

School Open Day will be held on:

Thursday 18th March

(9.15-11am)

Tours are also available on any school day throughout the year by appointment.

We request that parents already with children in the school enrol as early as possible.

‘Unexplained Student Absence’ - Notifying the School Office of Student Absences

It is essential that parents contact the school either by phone, from 8am, via email - office@hfmw.catholic.edu.au, or via the Skoolbag App, if your child will be absent from school.  Parents who do not contact the school will be phoned throughout the day seeking clarity on the whereabouts of their child.

As a means of saving our administration team from making multiple phone calls we ask that parents contact the school to advise of student absences.  If a child is to be absent for a number of days then parents are asked to advise the class teacher of an extended time of absence.  This may be applicable to family holidays, extended periods of illness etc.

This process has been put in place as a matter of safety for the children in our care. We thank parents for your support of this new procedure.
