Dear Sacred Heart Community

Confirmation

I would like to congratulate our students (and some former students returning from last year) who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday. On behalf of the Sacred Heart School Community, I would like to wish the candidates every success as they embark on this next very important stage of their faith journey. We are fortunate that the containment of the COVID virus, has allowed us to come together on this very important occasion. There are strict protocols in place on the day to ensue everyone's safety (face masks, limiting numbers), but the occasion will not be diminished and I am sure it will be a spirit filled event for all involved. Below are some details for photography that Jenny has asked me to attach.

Year Five/Six Camp

Our campers returned yesterday from three days of fun and excitement participating in a wealth of experiences that only a camp environment can provide. I visited the camp on Monday and witnessed our students engaged in a myriad of activities, getting to know each other and very importantly, themselves. The camp experience plays a very important part in developing a sense of self, independence and resiliency. I bet everyone involved in the camp including the staff slept well last night.

I would like to thank our Sacred Heart staff members who attended camp, Marty, James, Jessica, Francesca and Jenny for your care and support of our students these past three days for 24 hours each day.

Opening of the School Year Mass

A significant event in the life of any Catholic School is the Opening of the School Year Mass. Usually this event is held in the first few weeks of the year, but this year with the Sacrament of Confirmation being celebrated, our Opening of the School Year Mass has had to be pushed back to Sunday 14th March at 10.30am. At this Mass, our Year Prep students are welcomed into our community and our Year Six Captains and those in leadership positions are acknowledged with the presentation of their badges. This year we are also hoping to present our Year Six students with their graduation tops. At this Mass we need our students to take on roles doing readings, presenting prayers and participating in the choir. Next week a more detailed letter will be sent home requesting the involvement of students on the day. We are hoping to have a welcome with refreshments in the school yard after the Mass.

Parade Students

This year we have been very fortunate to acquire the services of two Year 12 Parade College students to work in our school. Jono and Jake are part of the Parade Sports Academy and will be helping some teachers with their physical education lessons and taking on a mentoring role with our older students. Welcome Jake and Jono to Sacred Heart School

Enrolments Open

Our enrolments for 2022 officially open on Monday the 1st March, and will close on Friday 20th June. Our first two enrolments were received yesterday from siblings of current students. Sharlotte sister of Shamus in Year One and Hanny sister of Hanna in Year Six, are our first official enrolments. If you have family, friends or neighbours who have children commencing school in 2022, we would appreciate you recommending our school as a prospective school for their children.

Thank you

A big thank you to Glenn and Agnes (parents of Natalie in Year One) for donating the icy poles that our Year Six Captains will be selling this Friday. Your generosity is really appreciated.

Representatives from Bunnings Preston called at our school yesterday with a gift for the school and generous voucher to buy products for our garden. On behalf of the school community thank you to Bunnings for their continued support of our school.

School Photos

Our school photos will take place this year on Wednesday 24th March. It is anticipated that in the coming week, relevant correspondence will be sent home from the company that organises our school photos. Please stay tuned for information about placing photo orders and other relevant details

School Fees

School fees can be paid by cash or card but unfortunately Maria is unable to provide an invoice at the moment with our current accounting software.

Parents and Friend's Meeting

Our next meeting will be on Friday 5th March at 9.00am in the staffroom. Our first meeting for the year was very well attended and we would love and appreciate  some of your time next Friday to help in the organisation of some upcoming events. Our meetings run for approximately 45 minutes and please be assured toddlers and babies are most welcome.

Please stay safe

Yours Sincerely

Mark Tierney
