ARTS SHOWCASE

Sarah Horne, Teacher

On Tuesday, 8 June the Dance, Drama and Music students combined to present a performance for families and friends at the Hopgood Theatre, hosted by year 12 Drama students Caleb and D’Arcy who took on the role of MCs.

The audience were greeted in the foyer with art work from accomplished artists across the school.

Year 10 Drama students presented their self-devised The Web of Ignorance exploring bullying. Despite a sudden absence on the day and a last-minute understudy performing the performance went well.

Year 9 and 10 music ensembles performed a series of popular songs for the audience, Don’t Stop Believing, Shut Up and Dance, Aztec Fire and combined to perform Dynamite. Small groups of SACE music students demonstrated their talents. Natasja and Isobel performed a playful classical duet for two flutes, Harrison belted out You’ll be back from Hamilton the musical, and Chelsea, Georgia and Natalie took audiences back to the 80’s with a woodwind trio of Fame

The Year 10 dancers demonstrated their ensemble skills performing a contemporary and high-energy Jazz dance. The SACE dancers showed their abilities to both perform and choreograph, leaving the audience in awe of their talents. Audiences were treated to a duet by siblings Skye and Brady.
