Principal's Report

Term 3 Highlights

I love being the principal of Staughton College for many reasons. One of these is the wide diversity of interesting things that happen within the school.  I would like to congratulate the whole school community for their commitments to making this happen. It is what makes our school special. Some highlights in Term 3 were:

  • Reading and numeracy NAPLAN results showing our students improved on average at a faster rate than the state. This is a terrific effort by teachers and students.
  • The magnificent season of Little Shop of Horrors. Performances were enjoyed by many students and parents. A particular highlight was the performance for our local primary schools. They were very impressed!
  • Year 10 work experience has again been a highlight with students going out to a wide variety of workplaces to experience first -hand what that industry is like. I would like to also thank local employers for being generous in accepting students.
  • Continued high attendance at parent/student/teacher conferences. Pl3ease note that the next of these is on Wednesday November 1.
  • Our work in mathematics, particularly to Lorna McClory who has been successful in becoming a reSolve Mathematics Champion
  • Our celebration of the Educational Support Staff in ES week. These staff provide the backbone of all areas of the school that keep things running smoothly.
  • The increased presence of our student leaders in leading events, and the increased participation of students in decision making particularly in our review process leading to our new strategic plan.
  • Student academic effort, in line with our work to have students adopt a growth mindset towards learning

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break.
