Student Wellbeing

 Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing staff play an important role within Concord School. Their main role is to support students who are at risk of disengagement and not achieving their educational potential.

Our student wellbeing team personnel has changed this year.  Sharon Ouliaris (well-being coordinator) Hillary Field (counsellor M,T,W,Th.) Jesse Donaldson and Trish Kuhar (behavioural support) remain.

We welcome Zee Munro, Zee comes from Mildura and will be providing wellbeing and counsellor support for our secondary aged students. Zee works Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Our well-being team are available to provide support for our students where there are issues affecting their school life.

NDIS Speech and Occupational Therapy requests

Concord School employs Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists to support our students and their programmes at school. With the introduction of the NDIS our therapists are increasingly being asked to provide assessments, reports or letters for students as part of the student’s application, plan review or appeal.

Unfortunately, our therapy staff simply do not have the time to meet such requests and it is out of scope of their current roles. They can only provide a copy of any previous assessment and reports done at school as part of the student’s Program for Students with Disability funding application. Our therapy staff’s priority is to work with the students and teachers within Concord School. Parents and carers are advised to include a review of therapy services into plans in conjunction with existing external supports.

We are however able to provide advice around NDIS plans for families. Please contact Sharon Ouliaris at Concord School should you need support or guidance.

Thank you for your understanding

Mobile Phone use at Concord School

We have tightened up on student access to phones during the school day. This is in response to ongoing phone and social media issues with students as well as request from some parents.

For 2019:

  • Students at Concord School are not to have their phones at all between 9-3pm, this includes recess and lunch.
  • Year 11 /12 students are permitted to have their phones but only in the transition building and only at lunchtime.
  • Phones need to remain in student lockers or bags and not carried around with them.
  • Phones for school-related activities are at the teacher’s discretion, e.g. Using Google Maps, calculator, P.T.V. planner etc.
  • Use of phones on excursions is also at teacher discretion.
  • Students may have “music only” devices in the yard at recess and lunch

Thank you for you support.
