Kindness Heroes

In Term 1, I was invited to do an interview with the ABC for their series, Kindness Heroes. I was interviewed alongside Jamal, the Program Coordinator and co-founder of One Love, an organisation dedicated to bringing down racism.

I  first met Jamal through a segment of the Year 9 Impact program, where he was the special guest at Monash University. His speech about his experiences of racism and his efforts to prevent it was inspiring and motivating to listen to. He was nominated as a Kindness Hero, and I was given an opportunity through him to speak about my views on racism and my vision for the future, where the next generation of children are safe from discrimination.

The filming of the interview spanned almost a whole day - it took six hours to complete! During the interview, Jamal and I spoke about our experiences with racism, and how that affects our quality of living. We also spoke about my ideas for a social business that would be based around primary school children and nipping racism at the bud.

Overall, the interview with the ABC was a very special experience and I’m glad I had the opportunity to do it; all made possible thanks to the Year 9 Impact Program and One Love.
