Rowing

Message from the Captain of the Boats

Hi everyone

As we are sure many of you have heard, the rowers just returned from the 4 day Head of Schoolgirls' Regatta at the Barwon River in Geelong. It's been a season of hard work and preparation, starting back in July last year with plenty of 5am wake-ups and regional road-trips throughout the season to get us ready for the weekend.

We left for Geelong on Thursday to compete in the School Sports Victoria regatta, where we won Most Points Scored, Best Girls' School and Overall School Champion after a day of great racing from all squads.

The Head of Schoolgirls' Regatta started on Friday, where after 92 races between the 30 MGC crews, we ended up placing 4th overall. The results were fantastic, 13 crews made A finals and we won 3 golds, 4 silvers and 2 bronzes.

The success at Head of Schoolgirls' wouldn't be possible without the support of the school, our coaches and our parents. We'd like to thank our head coach- Steph Burgess as well as Ms Fliss Burgess, Ms Kontogeorgis, Mr Brown, Ms Munro, Ms Sandilands, Ms Sklavakis, Ms Tellefson, Ms Demirova Mr Howlett, Ms Lerpiniere, Ms Miller, Mr Arney and Ms Money for their assistance over the season and the weekend.

We are so proud of all of the students who competed over the weekend and represented the club throughout the season and are excited to see what Nationals has in store for 10 students attending.
