Two Indonesian captains and 25 selected Grade 5 students had an unforgettable cultural excursion. Students not only had the cultural and linguistic knowledge about Indonesian, but also they had the opportunity to collaborate with students from other primary and secondary Australian schools, as well as get connected with students in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. The most remarkable moment was Great Ryrie Primary students showed active participation and great enthusiasm on attempting all four activities, “Pencak Silat” (Indonesian martial art), “Tarian Piring” (Indonesian plate dance), puppet shadow and mask making. Furthermore, students enjoyed eating “Nasi Goreng” (fried rice) prepared by Flying Wok.
