School News and Information

Kindergarten

Wow, week 6 already! Time flies when you are having fun and that’s what we have been doing here in Kindergarten. We have had a fabulous and busy term already, with lots of wonderful learning!

Two weeks ago, we participated in science and education week which was fantastic. We got to enjoy many different activities throughout the day.

In MAPPEN we are focusing on “Fairness and Friendship’. During MAPPEN lessons we engage in how to be a kind, caring friend and rules that can be put in place to make our classroom and playground safe and fair for everyone.

In You Can Do It we are learning to be like Connie Confidence, to be brave and tell ourselves ‘we can do it’ when something is scary or a bit tricky.

Library/Technology News

Action packed in the Library this term.  We have had a number of students complete the Premiers Reading Challenge and are now enjoying reading some amazing books that have arrived in our library as part of Book Week.  We are looking forward to dressing up on Friday as part of our Book Week celebrations, all welcome to attend the parade at 9:00!

Kindergarten and Stage One have been colour coding using the Ozobot Robots and have learnt many sills about coding, problem solving and working as part of a team.

Stages Two and Three are in the middle of planning their Virtual Reality world using the CoSpaces program and the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality kit and can hardly wait to view their world through the VR goggles!

You Can Do It

This term we will be revising positive habits of the mind to build Emotional Resilience. Below are all the habits of the mind, however each fortnight I will highlight our focus and provide tips to parents of how you can help at home.

Negative Habits of the Mind to Eliminate to Help Build Emotional Resilience

Self-Downing – thinking that you are useless or a total failure when you have been rejected or have not achieved a good result (replace with Accepting Myself).

Needing to ‘Be Perfect’. Thinking that you have to be successful or perfect in everything important that you do and that it’s horrible when you are not (replace with Taking Risks).

Needing Approval –thinking that you need people (peers, parents, teachers) to approve of what you do and that when they do not, it’s the worst thing in the world (replace with Being Independent).

I Can’t Do It – thinking that when you have not been successful at something important, you are no good at anything and that you never will be (replace with I Can Do It).

I Can’t Be Bothered – thinking that life should always be fun and exciting and that you can’t stand it when things are frustrating or boring (replace with Working Tough).
