Hello from 2/3 Warthogs!

2/3 Warthogs have had a wonderful Term 3! We have been working really hard with our learning and making great progress with our literacy and numeracy skills.

In English, we have been focusing on doing our partner reading each day to build our fluency. We have also started looking at expression and phrasing this term by thinking about the different emotions we can use when reading to make it sound theatrical. This has been really fun to do, especially as we have read out the excerpt from 'Matilda', all about Miss Trunchbull. In modelled reading, we have been building our understanding of character through exploring the text 'The Bear with the Sword' by Davide Cali and Gianluca Foli. We are also now looking at examining themes within the text and how we can find evidence within the book to highlight these themes. In writing, we started looking at fragments and how we can turn them into full sentences and we are now working on making super simple sentences 'pop' by spicing them up with adjectives and adverbs. Information reports have also been written throughout the term and we have become really superb at researching information about animals and people.

In Maths, we have been using hands-on materials to help us with our learning and are really enjoying using our write and wipe sleeves. We have been looking at how we can draw and write our learning in a range of different ways to show and explain our working out.

In History, we have been looking at how past and present family life has been the same and different and looking at lots of old photos. We have really enjoyed discussing how telephones, cameras and planes have developed throughout time.

In Technology, we have learnt how to make Powerpoints as well as send emails and are looking at how to format an email appropriately.

We have been building our fundamental movement skills in sport by learning how to kick, strike, run, jump, throw, catch and hop during K-2 Sport. The Year 3 students have really enjoyed heading out to fishing, walking, school sport or tennis.

Overall, it has been a wonderful term and we are working really hard and doing a fabulous job!
