Southern Stars

It was 3 years in the making - but wow, it was BIGGER, BETTER and so SPECTACULAR! We celebrated the last 20 years of Southern Stars, displaying all that is good about the Arts, as well as the Public Education by showcasing some of the amazing moments Southern Stars have had over the past 20 years. It was definitely a trip down memory lane, with some blasts from the past.

We began our first rehearsal journey back in Term 2, where 15 students rehearsed with 9 other schools in their fun, upbeat act of Waterloo by ABBA. Followed by a rehearsal early in Term 3 at the Win Entertainment Centre, and not to mention many lunch and recess rehearsals throughout the Terms.

Show week came up in a blink of an eye, with early mornings and late nights of full day rehearsals and performances. We had a total of 2 rehearsal days, including a dress rehearsal where our magnificent students got to see our costumes in full effect for the first time with the remaining schools.

Our students had exceptional behaviour as always, showing grit, determination and resilience to keep those twinkle toes moving after many long hours. During the rehearsals we had the privilege of watching some acts perform. The students were mesmerised by how amazing and talented each act was, and also cheering on our Dance Company performer Koa. With many smiling faces before, during and after each performance, our wonderful Windang students kept themselves busy talking and enjoying the atmosphere, making life long friends and memories.

A big thank you to Mrs Watt for the behind the scenes organisation, Mrs D, for the familiar face backstage, directing students where to be, and also to Miss Rogers for accompanying Miss Khaika over the weekend. It was such a buzz and definitely an exhausting week for all teachers and students. Also a big thank you to the parents involved, we know it was also a big week for you, making sure the students were on time and at school ready for all their rehearsals and performances.

A mammoth shout out to the students involved:

Koa F - Company Dancer, Lani G, Indi O, Ella C, Ava B, Zara S, Savannah B, Coco S, Annelise R-G, Lexie B, Fleur B, Peyton P, Victoria S, Max C, Jarvis S.

We hope you enjoyed the show, I can not wait to see what new faces we have for next year!
