I acknowledge the First Peoples of our nation and the traditional custodians of the land on which our beautiful school stands, The Wathaurong people. I pay my respects to the Wathaurong people and acknowledge their contribution and care of the land and waters on which our school community works and lives. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge and thank all First Nations people within the Miners Rest School Community.
Parent/Carer/Guardian Survey
WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Wednesday 24th August to Friday 16th September.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

Year 3 Camp
We happily waved on many excited Year 3 children and staff on the bus heading for Cave Hill Creek this morning. Thank you to all of our families for preparing the children for a successful time away from home. We will welcome them back with lots of camp stories and experiences to share on Friday afternoon.
World of Maths Family Night
On Monday evening we opened the gymnasium to our school families to celebrate the amazing world of Maths! Thank you so much to the families that attended and enjoyed the challenges that they faced with their children. It was a fantastic evening with lots of fun and learning enjoyed by all.
Book Week Celebrations
The Book Week Parade and activities were another highlight of the week gone by. Costumes and participation were exceptional - a big thank you to families for your preparation behind the scenes and your attendance at our parade on Friday morning. It is wonderful to have community back onsite celebrating special events with us.
A new arrival
Speaking of special celebrations, MRK-6 would like to congratulate Troy Watson and his wife, Tess on the early but safe arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Billy Jack Watson. We wish Troy and Tess every happiness on this new phase of life as a family.
