Spotlight on Numeracy 

Each fortnight a different grade will be in the SPOTLIGHT sharing Numeracy inside the classrooms! 

Welcome to Numeracy in Year 2!

In Year 2 we have been having so much fun in mathematics lessons exploring volume and capacity. We have been learning to estimate, measure, compare and order different containers based on volume and capacity using appropriate uniform informal units.

In our maths sessions we engage in complex and non-routine learning tasks (also known as launch tasks) which provide opportunities for students to: think deeply, use problem solving skills, set goals, persist and develop a growth mindset. After we engage in these launch tasks we practise the important skills, build fluency and master knowledge through consolidation activities.
