Spotlight on Literacy

Each fortnight a different grade will be in the SPOTLIGHT sharing Literacy inside the classrooms!

OLF Public Speaking Competition

Over the past few weeks, students in Years 1-6 have been preparing speeches for our OLF Public Speaking Competition, the Stage Two  Inter-school Public Speaking Competition and Year 6 Inter-school Debating Competition. Students covered a range of topics including:

  • Should children have pets?
  • My family
  • All about me
  • Team sports are better than individual sports.
  • If I could change one thing about the world it would be…
  • COVID has had a positive effect on the world.
  • Social media does more harm than good.
  • I couldn’t possibly live without…

Students brainstormed ideas, wrote their speeches and practised presenting them. We loved hearing all of the students' speeches over the past two weeks. There were lots of informative and persuasive speeches, enthusiasm, expression and hand gestures. Congratulations to all of the students who participated!
