This year, students in Years 3 and 5 achieved results above the state mean in Literacy and Numeracy across the top two performing bands. Evidence of substantial long term growth in these curriculum areas is a result of quality pedagogical practice and student engagement at Our Lady of Fatima.Areas of strong positive growth across the Year 3 cohort were in Reading,Writing,Spelling and Numeracy. In Year 5 positive growth was evident in Reading, Writing and Spelling. Parents are asked to make an appointment with their class teacher if they have any questions relating to student NAPLAN reports.
Our school swimming program commences in Term Four at Caringbah Leisure Centre. Years Two to Five students will participate in an intensive five day program which will operate over four weeks commencing in Week Two, Monday 17th October.
Kindergarten and Year One students will participate in an intensive five-day program during Weeks Five and six.
Swimming timetables and online parent consent to be completed prior to the program commencing will be sent out via COMPASS over the next week. Parent helpers will be required for Kindergarten - Year Two. All parents are requested to contact the office if for any reason their child cannot participate in this school based Physical Education program.
We hope all families had an enjoyable day last Sunday celebrating Father’s Day. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who organised and assisted at our Father’s Day stall this year and in particular our parent group representatives. The students always enjoy selecting a special gift for their fathers/grandfathers from the well-chosen gift selection available!
Teachers will be participating in a professional learning day on Friday 23rd September. Professional learning sessions throughout the day will involve teachers collaborating and providing feedback in relation to teaching and learning programs and the school based Mandarin program. Teachers will also be participating in professional learning to unpack the new Stage 3 Religious Education Curriculum to be implemented in 2023.
Parents are reminded to use the online facility or lunch bag to order student lunches from the canteen. Many students are coming to school with money to buy their lunch over the counter and do not select a nutritional lunch.
