Over the past few weeks, we have been tackling a massive project. The project is a portrait of Mary, mother of Jesus. There were many people participating in this project, over multiple different year levels.
The first thing we did was we sketched the face, and planned the colours. Second, we sketched and painted the mantle, or veil and the clothes. Third, we added shading to the mantle, and then started the hair and face. After we did all of this, we added shading to the face, hair and clothing. Meanwhile, the gold foil was applied with a special glue to the gold background. It took a matter of weeks, but soon enough it was all finished.
The portrait of Mary was held up on the altar at the Feast Day mass. Everyone who participated was very proud of their hard work, everyone enjoyed it.
