Literacy

This week in the Spotlight Series we investigate how a fun event like The Royal Show can be utilised by parents to get children talking. Increasing a child's vocabulary in this authentic way can make a significant difference to your child's English skills! If you did not go to the show, think of another event or outing and link the content of the article to talking about the things that happen in your daily lives! We cannnot emphasise enough how talking and reading with your kids is the biggest gift you can give your child's education and future! The Spotlight Series has focused on oral langauge this term for this very reason - Talk, talk, talk! Read, read, read! Then... talk about what you have read - a recipe for success!!!

Please read the attached article and then... Think! Act! Reflect! Happy talking families!!!I

Numeracy

At LNPS as a whole school we teach students strategies from Ann Baker’s Secret Code to understand number and solve mathematical problems.

The ‘Secret Code’ is the name given to a range of mental strategies created by Ann Baker (Natural Maths).  Each strategy has a code that is used by students when solving problems.

The next in the series is 'Chunking for Multiplication':
