Early Years Outdoor Learning Space 2014
We are pleased to announce that construction on the Early Years Outdoor Learning Space is about to commence. Following consultation with experts in the field we have modified the original design concept to provide an engaging and slightly larger learning space incorporating the asphalt area on the Northern side of the Mellor building.
Features of the new design include a dry creek bed made with exposed aggregate concrete with large rock and animal footprints. This feature will allow for water runoff into the existing spoon drains from the vast quadrangle area. We are pleased to be able to incorporate green space, shade and many engaging spaces for small group interaction and learning. The attached plan describes features of the design concept. The designs are also on display in the glass display case on the wall of the Mellor building.
Construction will begin during the upcoming school holidays with the major ground breaking operations including heavy equipment occurring while the yard is clear of students. The remainder of the work will continue with the area fenced during Term 4 enabling the students to follow the progress of the project.
Many thanks for your contributions and positive responses to this exciting project. Thanks to the Grounds and Building Committee for their persistence in developing a quality and highly educational feature for Lockleys North Primary School. This project will enhance the entire school facility both visually and in terms of learning outcomes.
Any questions and positive feed back can be directed to Tyson Grinham and Rosemary Saxon. We look forward to celebrating the opening of the Early Years Learning Space during Term 4.

Bike Racks
Due to the building works beginning on the Rowell Toilets the bike racks have had to be shifted until the completion of the project. Currently we have bike racks temporally stationed in a number of areas. They include:
1. Western side of Mellor outside LA 6
2. Western side of Tirkandi facing Torrens
3. Western side off Administration facing Rowell
4. Western side of Morphett facing the Gym
Hopefully this will accomodate all our bike riders until we are able to re-establish the bike racks behind Rowell at the completion of the project.
