Afternoon Tea for Steve Button

We will host an afternoon tea to say farewell to our retiring bus driver Steve Button on Friday 9 September for all our students to show their gratitude for his long commitment to boarding. Afternoon tea will be served for all students on this afternoon in the Dining Hall, students will be invited to come through to say thank you and farewell. Any parents wishing to say farewell may also pop in between 3.10pm and 4.00pm. 

Conferences and Field Days

Mrs Tara Ball and  Mrs Julia Bairstow enjoyed attending the Isolated Children’s Parents' Association (ICPA) 51st Federal Conference earlier this month in Perth.  The ICPA is a voluntary, non-profit, apolitical parent body dedicated to ensuring all geographically isolated children’s educational needs and aspirations are not disadvantaged because of where they live. This conference is a great opportunity for us to get an insight into what challenges boarding families all over Australia are facing. One of our fabulous boarding parents, Mrs Jane Cunningham was one of the conveners at this event. At the upcoming Newdegate Machinery Field Days the local branch fundraise for ICPA by selling doughnuts, many of our boarding families are involved. We encourage all our boarding families to support the ICPA if you get an opportunity to do so.

P & F Function

Vanessa enjoyed the P&F Winter Sundowner last week with guest speaker Dr Craig Challen. This event saw many boarding parents join with day parents to hear the inspirational story of Dr Challen and his contribution to the rescuing of the Thai soccer team from the caves in Thailand. With such a long drive home, we had one family take up our offer of staying overnight in Michaelmas.

Fire Drills

In Week Two of every term, we have a fire drill to ensure we are all able to follow the requirements. You may have noticed our muster point is the dining hall carpark. Good news is, we passed!
