Boys Cricket
On Monday 10 February, Nossal played two different schools in Senior Boy’s Cricket at Sweeney reserve. The good news is that we won both games and now head off to the next round with a spring in our step.
In the first game we played Minaret. Batting first we made a good score of 137 from 14 overs, at a run rate of almost 10 an over. Daniel Cameron made 22, Dhanusha Gamage 31, Shsishir Kulkarni 20 and Minro Eshwara 38 all made great contributions. In reply Minaret found the run rate too daunting and ended up on 9 for 59. Ben McDonald and Ramkishore Ramkumar both took 2 wickets and the rest were evenly spread.
In the second game we played Kooweerup, a school that in the past had proved to be our nemesis. This time we made 142 from 16 overs, another great performance and run rate. Dhanusha top scored with 53, whilst Daniel and Shishir scored 43 and 21 respectively. But would it be enough? With a combination of a brilliant bowling and fielding display we restricted Kooweerup to 8 for 106. A great effort by the Nossal boys with Ben McDonald once again taking 2 wickets.
Both games were played in excellent spirit and all boys involved were a credit to their schools.

Senior Girls Cricket - First Division Pennant Winners for 2020
Senior girls had time for 1 quick training session before Division Cricket which was held on Monday 10 February. Nossal girls played against the Kooweerup girls. After losing the coin toss, Kooweerup decided to bat first. They only had 8 students on the day and we bowled them all out 18 runs off 16 overs!
Nossal bowled very well, our captain Hasna bowled out 3 batters and Moksha also bowled another player out. It was great fielding all round by the Nossal girls and well done to Shehanee with 3 catches, Hiral took a catch and Shalaaka completing a stumping while playing wicket keeper.
Shalaaka also top scored for Nossal making 20 runs, beating the Kooweerup team total, by herself.

2020 Nossal House Swimming Carnival
Following last year’s torrential rain, we were just hoping for clear skies at the 2020 House Swimming Carnival. Luckily, the weather came through and gifted us a day of blue sky, mild temperatures and plenty of House Spirit as the four houses met to compete for the first House Points of the year.
"Personal Bests" were achieved, Nossal records were set and the competition was fierce in the Water Polo pool. A large proportion of students participated in some way, whether it be swimming in races, participating in the novelty events or Nossal Splash, taking photos, selling treats, volunteering, organising swimmers, cheering on their house or being there with a towel to support a friend. A great day was had by all and a big thank you goes out to all staff and House Captains who helped to make the day such a success. Bring on Cross Country in week 9!
