Book Week Celebrations 

The theme of this year’s Book Week was “Reading Is My Secret Power.” The school celebrated Book Week with a range of activities and competitions such as Interhouse Spelling bee and Interhouse Quiz competitions. All students were encouraged to participate in creative writing competitions in various categories as well.

During the week the school also welcomed two well known Australian writers -in-residence namely Alice Pung and Lili Wilkinson.  Alice spoke to all year 10s on her experiences of growing up as a migrant in Melbourne which contributed to the content of her writing while Lili Wilkinson spoke to all year 9s on the origins of her ideas for creative writing. Lili Wilkinson later conducted two workshops for selected year 9 students on the creative writing process.

The celebrations culminated with a book character and multicultural dress up parade on Friday. The photos below show some of the activities during Book Week celebrations.
