Volleyball Knockout
Cowra High onto next round
On Friday 5 April 16 girls and boys travelled to Forbes High School to play Knockout Volleyball. The boys game was played first. This was a practice match for the forthcoming Volleyball Carnival scheduled to be held in Bathurst on May 24.
The boys had already secured a place in the upcoming Bathurst carnival, so this was an ideal opportunity for them to display their skills and teamwork. The boys looked in trouble after losing the first 2 sets in the best of 5 set match. Fortunately they then played their best Volleyball with excellent teamwork providing much needed points. Jack Tarrant and Emerson Baratto were stunning with their net spiking. This resulted in the boys winning 3 sets to 2.
The girls then played their best of 3 sets match. The girls rallied well and used their skills to advantage. Kara Hinderager and Natalie Carden displayed consistent serving to win consecutive points on several occasions throughout the match. The pleasing result was that some of the Year 9 girls who are relatively new to Volleyball played confidently and meshed well with the rest of the team. The final result was a straight sets win to Cowra High School.
It is pleasing that both boys and girls will play the next round of the Volleyball knockout on May 24. The Tuesday after school training has been most beneficial to helping improve skills and teamwork.
Congratulations to: Beryl Brown (9), Tobi Casey (9), Maddison Forbes (9), Mikelli Garratt (9), Brayden Harris (9), Kara Hinderager (9), Kimball Sullivan (9), Mugabo Bizimana (11), Marcus O'Connor (11), Tailor Hampton (11), Emerson Baratto (12), Natalie Carden (12), Zeb Dale (12), Ginger Oliver (12), Erika Sullivan (12), Jack Tarrant (12)
