Outgoing Year 11 Edmund Rice Society leaders
At this time each year we focus on the great communion of Saints: on All Saints Day, the wonderful company of Saints we know as part of the reality of our Catholic tradition; on All Souls Day, those who have died – friends, colleagues, relatives and other leaders whom we have known, worked with, laughed with, wept with and walked with. Many of them are not famous. Their statues are not in churches but their pictures are in our homes and their stories alive in our community, and in us. We know of their goodness and their struggles. We pray for them and remember them with love, celebrating in faith their journey to God.
Further discussion of the Social Justice statement ‘A place at the table’, reminds us of the value of older people and indeed all people who are dear to us and the great loss that is ours when they pass. They are such wonderful sources of wisdom, love and an integral part of the memories that frame our lives. The image of the one table with all welcome around it - young, old and in between - reminds us of the ‘bounty that has already been given to us’ and the responsibility that we have been given to ensure ‘we all share from the one table’.

The Year 8 Men’s Toiletries Drive for the Matthew Talbot Men’s Hostel has concluded and I would like to thank the generous families who have donated to this worthwhile cause. All donations will now be divided into individual toiletries packs to give as gifts closer to Christmas at Matthew Talbot.
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week I will be attending the EREA Peace, Justice and Advocacy Symposium at the EREA Mulgoa Retreat property with ten Year 10 students. We will be guest speakers on issues such as environment, climate change, asylum seekers and refugees, Edmund Rice Beyond Borders, EREA Annexe Schools, homelessness and Edmund Rice Camps. The students will also have the opportunity to share with other EREA Year 10 students from colleges across Sydney what they are doing in their schools.
On Monday morning at assembly the Edmund Rice Society Leaders received their Edmund Rice Society Leadership badges. Both the outgoing Year 11 leaders and incoming Year 10 leaders were presented by Mr Couani and Br Sherrin awarded the Year 11 leaders their leadership certificates.
